New Enrollment Information for 2012-2013

Welcome to the Alameda Unified School District Enrollment Process. We want to remind families in Alameda that kindergarten enrollment for the 2012-13 school year is now open. Kindergarten families should register within the next two weeks, by March 9 at the latest. Kindergarten students enrolling for the 2012-2013 school year must be five years of age on or before November 1, 2012. Enrollment for new students entering grades 1-12 will follow kindergarten registration and will begin on March 19.

The 2012-13 school year will involve new enrollment procedures we believe will be more convenient and efficient for families. For information about enrollment procedures for the 2012-13 school year, just go to the homepage of the AUSD website at and click on the fifth link on the left side “Enrollment Information” or go directly to that page here:

Once at that Enrollment Information page, on the left side of the page you will find links to a lot of information about online enrollment and other registration topics. This information includes answers to frequently asked questions about kindergarten (“Kindergarten FAQs”), transitional kindergarten, residency verification, immunization requirements, health forms, and many other issues.

Those who would prefer to fill out the enrollment information online need only click on the “ONLINE ENROLLMENT” tab on the left or the “click here” in the middle of the Enrollment Information page, choose “Register a new student” on the next page, select the school year (2012-13 for next year) and then follow the directions. Families choosing this option should print out a copy of their online enrollment verification. Those who prefer to complete a more traditional paper enrollment packet have that option as well.

Completing enrollment requires bringing all the required documents to a meeting with AUSD staff. A parent or guardian must bring originals of the following documentation to that meeting:

1. Completed copy of your Online Registration confirmation: please

a) print a copy for yourself and

b) also print and bring one for AUSD or bring a completed enrollment packet.

2. Child's Original or Certified Birth Certificate (or other proof of age such as a passport or certified baptismal certificate).

3. Child’s Immunization Records for the following immunizations: Polio, DTP, Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella (Chicken Pox), and Hepatitis.

IMPORTANT! NO SHOTS – NO SCHOOL: Your child will NOT be able to start school in the fall until you have provided documentation of ALL required immunizations.

4. Parent/Guardian’s Current Government Identification (ID, Driver’s License, or Passport).

5. A Property Deed (or most recent Property Tax Bill) or a Current Rental Agreement (with the following: Parent/Guardian name, student's name(s), name of owner or manager and telephone number - sub leases will not be accepted).

6. Alameda Municipal Power document(s) or bill(s).

We cannot accept the enrollment until ALL documentation is received. Please bring all information needed with you to the office.

Scheduling an enrollment appointment is the best way to assure you a quick visit when you come to AUSD to complete enrollment. If you have an appointment and all the documentation needed, your appointment should take no longer than 20 minutes. We will take walk-in appointments, but walk-ins may have to wait for others ahead in line.

Families can make an appointment with AUSD Student Services by calling (510) 337.7086 or by going to the homepage of the AUSD website at and clicking on the fourth link on the left side “make an enrollment appointment” or by going directly to that page here:
