Kindergarten Enrollment Process

Welcome to Kindergarten at Bay Farm! We are glad that you have chosen to enroll your child at our school. Please review the information below.

Where Do I Start?

Information Night
Kindergarten Information Night occurs mid to late January each year. At this event, parents will get to meet the Bay Farm Kindergarten teachers and learn about the Kindergarten program as well as the policies and procedures for enrolling children in Kindergarten.

Tour Our School
During Information Night, parents may sign up for one of two organized campus tours. Registration packets will be available at Kindergarten Information Night as well as in the school office. You can contact the school office at
(510) 748-4010

Is there a Minimum Age?
Students must be 5 years old by December 2nd in order to start Kindergarten.
For example. Jacob's 5th birthday is November 25. Since he will be 5 years old by December 2, he is eligible to enroll in Kindergarten this year.

When can I enroll my child?

Initial Enrollment Period
Following Kindergarten Information Night is Kindergarten Round-Up (January 24- February 4, 2011) a two week initial enrollment period will be held for students living in the zone of attendance.

First Priority: Siblings
If after the initial two week period there are more students than available spaces, first enrollment priority will be given to siblings of currently enrolled students living in the zone of attendance that have returned a completed application within the two week period.

Random Drawing
The remaining students will be assigned enrollment priority numbers through a random drawing. Students participating in the random drawing will then be enrolled based on priority number until all spaces are filled.

Wait List
Students in the random drawing who are not enrolled will be placed on a wait list and enrolled in another school with available space. (Multiple birth students will be treated as a single number in the random drawing. If their number is drawn and the number of students exceeds the number of spaces available, parents may take the available space(s). The remaining siblings will be placed on a waiting list and enrolled in another school with available space.).
