Bay Farm PTSPresidents’ Letter

August 2017

Dear Bay Farm Families,
Welcome back to school everyone and a special WELCOME to the new families! I hope you all have had a wonderful and relaxing summer. I look forward to seeing you at the PTSA meetings and working together. We have a few students joining us from Lum Elementary this year, please reach out and welcome them to Bay Farm!

Our Focus for 2017-2018
This year the PTSA is proud to continue our support for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) programs, students, and staff who serves our school. We’ll continue to work collaboratively with our Bay Farm teachers to review new and interesting programs that will benefit our students learning experience.

This year is also the 25th Anniversary of Bay Farm School and we have many fun events scheduled throughout the year with this theme. Go to our PTSA’s Konstella site and be kept up to date of all the latest information. In case you have not heard about Konstella at Bay Farm, this is our new communications tool for parents to stay informed and up to date. Konstella enable us to combine the functions of 3 different tools we use into a single tool, eliminating the need to go to different tools to hunt for information. Don’t forget to install the mobile app on your smart phone so you will always have information at your fingertips. If you have not yet registered at Konstella, you can follow this link to register. In addition, we will be rolling out a new, updated PTSA website. Go have a look and give us your feedback.

Get Involved –You Can Make a Difference!
The mission of a PTA/PTSA is to support and supplement our children’s educational process. We encourage every family to join and participate in our PTSA to help us drive towards that goal. Our PTSA is completely “powered” by volunteers! Whether you have 30 minutes or a few hours to give, we would love to have your participation. We need many volunteers through out the year and there are many great volunteer opportunities available. No prior experience necessary, just your enthusiasm!

Fundraising Drive
Our most significant source of financial support for critical programs is our annual fundraising drive. At Bay FarmSchool, we request that families make a single donation to the PTSA at the beginning of the school year rather than selling gift wrap, cookies, etc. throughout the year. This year is also an auction year for us, stayed tuned for more information.

Welcome Back Breakfast and First PTSA Meeting of the Year
Please join us for our PTSA Welcome Breakfast after morning ceremonies,
Monday, August 21st, in the Multipurpose Room.

Also, we encourage you to attend our first PTSA meeting on
Wednesday, Sept. 6th at 6:30 pm, also in the Multipurpose Room
to meet the PTSA board, hear from Principal Babs Freitas, and learn about all the PTSA has planned for this year to benefit our school community. Childcare will be provided during the meeting.

Check the PTSA website and visit Konstella for more information and list of upcoming events.  You can also follow us on Facebook or Twitter!

Welcome to the new school year. I encourage you to get involved – be active in the PTSA community. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time with any concerns or suggestions!

I look forward to meeting and hearing from you!

Warmly,
Bay Farm PTSA President Spencer
(Dad of Rafael and Anais)
